From USA Today best-selling author Raymond L. Weil comes the first book in the Originator Wars series.

The Lost Fleets have settled on an Originator Dyson Sphere in preparation for their greatest test yet. A great enemy is spreading across the universe conquering galaxy after galaxy.

The few surviving Originators have asked Fleet Admiral Jeremy Strong to fight a war against their most hated enemy, the Anti-Life. If he fails to stop their advance, then the entire universe could be in danger.

Rear Admiral Kathryn Barnes sets out on a desperate quest. She must find the missing Originators who fled into deep space millions of years in the past to escape a deadly disease. If they are to have any hope of winning this intergalactic war, the missing Originators must be found.

I've been reading the Slaver War series since the beginning and it has continually evolved and just keeps getting better. The "spin off" Originator Wars continues on from the successful end of the Slaver War with basically the same cast of main characters and even better sub-plots. I'm not going to write much about the story per se. I don't want to spoil it for future SiFi readers, but this is the best one yet between the two series. If you have not read the Slaver Wars some parts of the story line in this book will not make much sense or will be harder to understand the complex characters and why their interactions are what they are. Do yourself a favor and go read the predecessor Slaver Wars first. They are quite good novels and if you are a SciFi fan you'll love them. As an added bonus, by the time you finish them and this novel maybe the author will have published the next installment of this story line...

Very happy to find this author. Can not wait for more of this series. I have about 20 authors i check a couple times a month to see if they have new books. This author is one of five that got me to buy a kindle. You have written amazing books. Thank you
I really enjoy the originators, the AI's, and the warrior robots. I also like all the creative branches off the original story. I am looking forward to war with the Eternals. I am hoping that the great bear is found. I hate it when a major character is killed. I would like to see more AI's like Clarissa and Ariel, a lot more. Please find a lot more Originators. The Federation supporting the Shari went very well and I am hoping for an alliance with them. I hope this series never ends. We can go to a parallel universe to keep it going.
Story arc is great but...too many typos made this book seem rushed. Auto - correct probably responsible for typos, for example"pantheon" instead of pathogen, "Kelvin" instead of Kevin, also the Eternals referring to the Dyson sphere instead of the Shrieel before they knew the human term for the it, etc, etc.
The Eternals are somewhat disappointing too, very one dimensional, just Simulins v2.0.
Wow if your a fan of the Slaver Wars series you will not be disappointed! However if this is your first time into the Slaves Wars Universe I highly suggest you go back to the beginning and read all the novels in order. This is because they all build on each other and create the intricate storylines that exist in this novel. While the storylines due jump they are well written and cohesive. I like that we still see the conflicts in the milky way as well as the Triangulum Galaxy plus now the new galaxy of the eternals. The battles are well thought out and the relationships carefully crafted. So what are you waiting for get to reading!
No character development, little if any descriptions, I could never see the scene or what any of the characters looked like. More characters and names than The Devils! Why? Why must I remember all these forgettable people and places? All wooden dialogue. Plodding immemorable story line. I want my money back! Please , , there is a lot of truly excellent science fiction out there most of which I have already read, but I am always looking for new good reads and this ain't it. please be more discerning when you recommend someone to me that you know I have never previously purchased. Who is this mans editor? Unbelievable the transcript did not go straight in the trash.
First book of Weil's writing I've read - I won't be repeating the experience - to sum it up I'd say "death by statistics".

Yes there are battles and lots of un-named nobodies die - strangely everyone else seems to be an Admiral, and they don't die at all (pity really). The outcome of each battle is largely determined by who has how many hundreds or thousands of this or that space navy vessel (and trust me you will be told in tedious detail how many of each on each side) and how much bigger or stronger (or not) the respective navy's guns or shields are.

Token efforts at character development descend into tedious cliche talk-fests (between Admirals, of course). The aliens are caricatures - type-cast as anthropomorphised insects or avians or mammals in descending degree of evil, arrogance and antipathy towards other life-forms, particularly humans. It's bad fiction at best.

And while I know your average Sci-Fi story is going to deal with 5 impossible technologies before breakfast, I really would like someone to explain how a Dyson Sphere is going to work in this or any universe - it's not something I think can be taken for granted, like say worm-holes or ansibles.
It's bad science and disowned by it's namesake. Maybe I missed the explanations in Weil's earlier work.

Having stumbled into the middle of the series and been disappointed and irritated I'm disinclined to go back to the beginning. Clearly a lot of folks thing this is a great read, but the only reason it gets 2 stars from me is I didn't actually "hate" it. The only thing it's done for me is move me to write my first ever review.
This is book one of three (planned) for this series. This series is the third series of books for the storyline. My review applies to every book from every series up to this book, which is highly unusual, due the the quality of writing by this author. As I mentioned in previous reviews, the storyline, characters, plot, is simply the best I've read for many years. The flow from book to book, series to series is seamless and unflawed. You must start with the Slaver Wars series first, then simply follow the sequence of books. WARNING the books are difficult to put down, expect long nights of excellent reading!
